iPhone Pictures and a Haircut

I FINALLY got a haircut on Tuesday.  I called to schedule an appointment with my regular girl and found out she no longer worked there!!   I have long hair, and it is really hard to mess up.  So, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment with another girl at the same place.

When I got there, I found out the whole place is shutting down!  :(  Apparently, no one is getting their hair cut or colored anymore.  The girl told me everyone is doing it at home.  Go get your haircut and support those beauticians!  Now I have to find a new place!

She did a great job on my hair.  I tried to take a picture with my iPhone.  My first attempt failed miserably…  It looks like my face is flying across the screen.

Yea… I don’t know how people do this so easily.  It looks like I have three eyes… Nice.

IMG_0122[1]

Getting closer, but my aim is no good.

This is about as good as it gets.

My eyes still look funky and blurry…

Oklahoma Fish and Orange Leaf!

Tonight, we ate some Oklahoma catfish.  My boyfriend’s parent’s neighbor (Get that?) gave it to us.  I baked it with some seasonings.  It was pretty good.  My boyfriend says he can tell it was caught in Oklahoma.

I fixed up some corn on the cob and broccoli as sides.

Here’s my plate:

 IMG_3997

We decided to go try out Orange Leaf for some yogurt!  We usually go to Braum’s but decided to try something different.  It’s a pretty popular place.  We had to park in the lot next to the shop.

 IMG_4002

The top one is my boyfriend’s cup.  He got chocolate and vanilla with strawberries, sprinkles and chocolate chips.

The bottom one is mine!  I got white chocolate and wedding cake with white and dark chocolate chips and Reese’s pieces.  It was worth all the calories!

Jack’s been driving us crazy lately.  We need to take him to puppy training!  He is sooo hyper even after we exercise him.  Any ideas for puppy school?

My Boyfriend, Jack’s Crate and Veggie Fried Rice

Last night, my boyfriend got inside Jack’s crate to play.  MISTAKE!

IMG_3949 IMG_3950

I actually locked him in there.  hehe!  Ok… Ok… he can actually get out pretty easily, but he was a good sport and let me snap a picture.

IMG_3952

Tonight, I decided to make veggie fried rice without the tofu.

I chopped up several veggies – broccoli, carrots and onions.  Then, cooked them up in some oil and added sesame oil for flavor.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE sesame oil!  It smells and tastes – oh so – good!

 IMG_3959

I made some white rice.  We bought some natural, brown rice at the Asian market, but I had this white rice left.

 IMG_3962

Mix the veggies with the rice.  I also added some corn, peas and lots of soy sauce.

 IMG_3971IMG_3972

I know what your thinking….

You:  Mmmm!  Carrie!  That looks fab!  Let’s eat!

Me:  No… No… No… It’s not fried rice until we add this last thing…

You:  But, it looks so yummy and we’ve been chopping and cooking.  I’m ready to eat!

Me:  I know!  But…  fried rice is not fried rice without the egg!!

You:  Oh!  Yea!  Carrie, you are a genius!  (Bowing to my genius)

Me:  I know… I know… Now get up and let’s cook us some eggs!

NOW WE CAN EAT!!

A Fall Weekend.

My mom came to visit us this weekend.  We had dinner with her Friday night at BJ’s.  I ordered the Garden Vegetable Potato.  It was a monster!  I ate half of it, and there was still a ton leftover.  I had the leftovers for lunch today.  It looks like I hadn’t eaten any of it at the restaurant.  I managed to finish most of it off today.

Saturday, my mom and I went to the Affair of the Heart.  It is an Oklahoma craft show.  It was crazy crowded.  A lot of women have these special shopping carts they take to the show.  They weren’t paying attention and would either block us or stop right in front of us.  Some people have no situational awareness.  Annoying….

I bought a marshmallow gun for my nephew.  Very cute and fun!  I had to use it to shot my boyfriend with marshmallows a couple of times before I put it away.  He got annoyed with me, but I kind of want one for myself now!  :)

They also had a bunch of Christmas decorations.  I bought a little snowman yard decoration but didn’t really see anything else I needed.

Tonight for dinner, I decided to make shrimp and cheese grits.  YUM!  I thawed some frozen shrimp and took the tails off.  It’s always annoying to me to take the tails off while you are eating or take a bite of shrimp only to find out you have to peel each one.

CHEESE GRITS!  Very Southern of Us!

 IMG_3937

I warmed the shrimp in some stewed tomatoes with cooked broccoli.  It doesn’t look very appealing, but it turned out great!  My boyfriend had seconds and finished it all off!

Broccoli and Cheese Stuffed Tilapia

I have to admit I didn’t stuff these fish.  I cheated I bought it in the store already stuffed, but they were pretty tasty.  Also, I love an easy dinner.  Take fish out of the package and place in a baking dish!

IMG_3922

I made some corn muffins with the fish.  I bought these mixes from Aldi.  When you are living on a budget, Aldi is amazing!  You can get a lot of the basics very cheap.

IMG_3923

My boyfriend’s FAVORITE veggie is corn on the cob.  He could eat this every day, all day at every meal.  I fixed six Nibblers just for him.

IMG_3924

I didn’t feel like corn on the cob.  So, I also made some green beans with onions.  Mmmmm!  Can you tell we like lots of black pepper?

 IMG_3926

YUMMY!  Here’s my dinner plate:

 IMG_3928

My boyfriend had a similar dinner plate, but he had an additional corn on the cob plate.  He ate every last one of them.  Of course, he covered them in salt, pepper and BUTTER!  We always joke about using butter as dip!  It’s our “butter dip”!  :)  I feel like Paula Dean talking about all this Bud – ha, ya’ll!

How to Cut/Peel a Kiwi

I am a food idiot!  Growing up, my mom pretty much stuck with the basics like spaghetti and hamburgers.  We never ate anything too exotic.  Plus, she didn’t really like to cook.

On our quest to eat better and new foods, I bought some kiwis at the store today.  I had no idea how to peel these suckers.  I actually had to google it.  This is what I found:  Learn to Select, Peel and Slice Kiwi.

Use a knife to cut the ends and peel it with a spoon.  I did the cutting and peeling as my boyfriend acted like kiwi paparazzi and took snapshots.  He’s ridiculous, but I love him!

Pretty yummy!  The last picture is my boyfriend’s fake excitement for the kiwi.  He said the seeds tasted like little bugs… Mmmmmmmmmm! :)

How do you feel about the kiwi?
